TrueNorth Health Ventures was conceived by Matt Scholl. Matt was previously part of Google’s life sciences arm Verily, where he led a number of business development efforts as part of the Onduo virtual clinic business. Matt previously served as head of corporate and business development at RedBrick Health, where he was the first employee hired by Kyle Rolfing and the founding team. RedBrick was one of the pioneers in aligning incentives and rewards to healthy behavior change. Matt has extensive experience in healthcare startup growth, including business development, sales, channel partner success and strategy.
Matt contributes a wealth of M&A, fundraising, and strategic consulting expertise, including an investment banking and research tenure at the healthcare boutique TripleTree, and as an independent business coach and advisor to healthcare startups.
Matt has an MBA in Entrepreneurship from San Diego State University and a BA and MEd in psychology and counseling from the University of San Diego. He currently serves on the board of directors of Mendota Health, an in-home wound care business.
John brings a unique blend of corporate healthcare and startup experience to TrueNorth and earlier in his career was a co-founder with Kyle Rolfing at Definity Health.
John most recently served as the VP of Strategic Business Development and Chief Transformation Officer for Stella Diversified. John joined Stella (parent organization to BCBS MN) in 2019, bringing more than 25 years of experience inside both startups and large corporations focused on strategy development, innovation, business development and corporate venture.
Prior to joining Stella, John was managing director at Echo Health Ventures in Durham, North Carolina, a collaboration in corporate venture capital between BCBS NC and Cambia. John was responsible for building and leading the market development and advisory functions for EHV and successfully led the execution of 16 contracts between the parent and portfolio companies.
Park has also held leadership, strategy and innovation positions at Alegeus Technologies, Ceridian, Cigna, and Fidelity Investments.
John earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Kyle’s track record as an early-stage healthcare entrepreneur and executive is significant. Kyle’s most recent exit, Bright Healthcare, is Minnesota’s all-time largest IPO - resulting in an enterprise value in the billions. In addition to Bright, Kyle was a founder and CEO of RedBrick Health, which was acquired by Virgin Pulse.
Prior to co-founding RedBrick Health, Kyle co-founded and was CEO of Definity Health, and was also a member of UnitedHealth Group’s Executive Leadership Team. Before Definity, Kyle held leadership roles at Aetna and Hewitt Associates.
Kyle has served as an investor, board of director and mentor to numerous other successful companies including Zipnosis, Wellbeats, Learn to Live, among others.
Kyle earned his M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
